The task involved establishing a better decision-making basis for analyzing the use of the municipality's buildings across the entire portfolio, so that operations and capacity could be assessed based on actual patterns rather than assumptions. I participated in the early planning along with the municipality's IT team, and as the project was descoped during planning, the requirements changed, and my role was no longer necessary.
Other framework: Scope: Full time; Employment type: Freelancer via broker (Mjølner).
The purpose was to create a data foundation for analyzing the use of the municipality's buildings across the portfolio, allowing for a comprehensive view of usage, patterns, and capacity utilization, rather than just point-based insights for individual locations.
I participated in early planning with the municipality's IT team, where we concretized the scope and clarification points, including which data needed to be available for the analysis to make sense, and which assumptions needed to be tested early before committing to a larger solution.
The project had an IoT angle, where data was intended to support demand-controlled heating based on actual usage; therefore, the data foundation became a critical prerequisite. During planning, it became clear that the complexity lay primarily in the data sources, especially sensor data and the associated data quality, which made the original solution expensive and risky to build. Consequently, the project was descoped and subsequently canceled, after which the need for my role ceased.
